Multi-day mountain biking
Days on the Trails, Nights Somewhere Special
Most bike holidays make you choose. Either the riding is great and the beds are basic, or the stay is lovely and the riding is a loop around the car park. The Noosa Hinterland does both. You spend the day on forest singletrack, fire roads and quiet ridgelines, and finish in a country town with a wood-fired hot tub, a seven-course dinner or a bath under the stars.
This is what makes the Noosa Biosphere Trails special. The trails link the towns together, so you ride from one to the next and never double back. Your luggage goes ahead on the bus, and the coast is only a morning’s ride away when it is time to head home.
Where it started
A Ride Built for Family
This route started as a present. Ben, who runs Bike On, wanted to show his parents the hinterland he knows so well, the way he likes to ride it: on mountain bikes, through the forest, with a good bed and a good meal at the end of each day.
So he planned three days for them, and in June 2025 he and his wife rode it with them, and the trail photos on this page are from their trip.
It worked so well that it became the model for every trip we plan. The trails, stops and stays are tailored to each group, but the idea is the same.
What makes it different
Not Your Average Rail Trail
Many of Australia’s longer bike trips follow old railway lines: wide, flat and gentle, with long stretches between towns. This one rides very differently.
Real mountain biking
Forest singletrack, fire roads, creek crossings and long descents. It rides like a mountain bike trip because it is one.
Dense forest
Rainforest gullies, piccabeen palms and tall eucalypts, with shade for most of the day.
Town to town
The trails link Pomona, Cooran and Kin Kin, so every night ends in a real country town.
More off the bike
Gin at the distillery, a country pub dinner, coffee stops and hot tubs, all close to where you finish.
Day one
Rainforest Trails to Pomona
The trip starts at our Noosaville shop with a proper bike fit. From there you roll into Tewantin National Park, through the Ringtail and Yurol forests, and climb to the Mt Tinbeerwah lookout for the first big view back over the lakes and the coast.
The afternoon drops down through thick forest into Pomona, a small town sitting right under Mt Cooroora.
Night one
Pomona: Yurts, Gin and a Country Town
Pomona is where the trip shows what makes it different. You roll off the trail and straight into town. Every trip is planned around your group, so these are some of our favourite options rather than a fixed list.

Noosa Eco Retreat
Eco-luxe yurts on the lawn under Mt Cooroora, with outdoor baths under the stars.

Pomona Distilling Co
Gin made right in town. The perfect first stop once the bikes are parked.

Dinner in town
From a smokehouse feast to a country pub meal, there is plenty of choice an easy walk from where you stay.
Day two
Hinterland Flow to Kin Kin
Day two is the heart of the trip, and the day most riders talk about afterwards. Forest riding through Tuchekoi National Park leads to a coffee stop in the village of Cooran, then a climb to the James McKane Memorial Lookout.
Lunch is beside the Mothar Mountain rockpools, before long, flowing descents through Woondum National Park and open farmland into Kin Kin. Shuttle support is there if you would rather skip a climb.
Night two
Kin Kin: Hot Tubs, Farm Stays and a Country Pub
Kin Kin is a tiny village with some of the best places to stay in the hinterland. Again, where you stay and eat is up to you. These are a few of the favourites.

Mayan Farm Villas
Private, architect-designed villas on 100 acres, with wood-fired hot tubs looking out over the paddocks.

Kin Kin Hotel
A historic country pub known for its seven-course, farm to plate degustation.
Day three
Hinterland to the Coast
The last day heads home the long way: rolling hills, open pasture and ridgelines through the forest, then gravel trails back toward Noosa. The views open up across the Everglades to the coast as you come down.
Want to finish on the water? Swap the bike for a paddle on a Noosa Everglades kayak tour.

Most riders choose an e-mountain bike. On multi-day trips we use premium e-mountain bikes, built for long days, so 40 to 60km a day feels comfortable and you arrive fresh for the evening. Keen riders can go further on a gravel bike, and we can plan shorter days on a traditional e-bike. Want the full day by day plan? See the example itineraries.
