PMBIA Mountain Bike Instructor Certification in Queensland
Bike On is authorised to deliver PMBIA instructor certification in Queensland, giving aspiring and experienced mountain bike coaches the opportunity to complete their professional instructor training without leaving the state.
WHAT IS PMBIA?
The Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association
The PMBIA is the international body for mountain bike instructor education and certification. Its courses combine riding technique, professional instruction methods, lesson planning, rider assessment and risk management, so instructors can deliver lessons that are safe, effective and enjoyable.
The certification runs from level 1 through to level 4 elite coaching. Level 1 is where everyone begins, and it is the course we deliver here in Queensland.
Level 1: where it all starts
- Teach fundamental mountain bike skills and manoeuvres
- Coach beginner and intermediate riders on green and blue trails
- Assess riders and provide effective feedback
- Structure safe and progressive mountain bike lessons
- Demonstrate correct riding techniques
- Manage groups and riding environments professionally
Bike On delivers Level 1 Instructor courses and the Kids Teaching Module in Queensland on behalf of PMBIA. Successful participants leave with a certification recognised internationally, and the door open to the rest of the pathway.
Where it leads
Level 1 is the entry point. From there the certifications specialise, and then deepen, all the way to elite coaching.
- Level 2 AIR. Developing intermediate to advanced riders in technical and flow bike park terrain, covering descending, steeps and berms, and safely introducing small to medium tabletops and drops.
- Level 2 TECH. Developing intermediate to advanced riders in cross country and enduro terrain, covering technical climbing, pedalling efficiency, descending and cornering, plus advanced manoeuvres such as bunnyhops, manuals and wheelies.
- Level 3 Instructor. Both the AIR and TECH courses, giving an instructor the depth to adapt to any discipline, environment or rider.
- Level 4 Instructor. The top tier certification in the industry, for coaching long term recreational and competitive programs with advanced to expert riders of all ages.

Bike On is an authorised PMBIA course provider, hosting and delivering PMBIA courses here in Queensland. Queensland riders can gain a professional instructor qualification without travelling interstate or overseas.
Courses combine practical riding, coaching development and assessment out on real trails rather than in a classroom.
As well as Level 1 certification, we deliver the PMBIA Kids Teaching Module, a one day module focused on coaching children rather than adults. It is a natural next step for anyone working with junior riders.
